why life is wonderful

hat
* Barring any shenanigans with NC weather, I will be seeing someone I've missed like crazy this afternoon. <3

* Abbey Road Live! tonight. And we have got quite the crew going. Anyone willing to be on call for bail money?

* Kent's brother, his wife, and Harry the Cutest One-Year-Old made it safely to Cambodia to see her family.

* Robin, the wandering SiL, will be here again in two weeks (!) for a job interview (!!!). Please keep your fingers crossed that she gets it, because I can think of few things cooler than having her here locally.

* Did I mention I'm having a visitor?

* Alpine Bagel makes the best tuna salad (better than mine, I think, and that is saying A LOT) and I have half of an everything bagel with the aforementioned waiting for me for lunch.

* The Patriarch is already quizzing me on which restaurant I want to go to in Atlanta when we come visit him before Dragon*Con. And the answers I gave impressed him (although he still thinks my fascination with Richard Blais is a MAJOR character flaw)

* Looks like there will be a potential Chirp-sighting sometime this weekend. The potential level of weird keep getting racheted up...and up...and up.

* While cleaning house, I found FIVE missing G hooks. I swear, those little buggers love to play hide and seek.

* I'm writing in my paper journal every day for the first time in years. Let's hope I don't get a reason to stop again (not that I think there's any danger of that).

* Did I mention Dragon*Con looks like a go?

*All of the bills (including rent) are paid. And it's the 18th. And we still have two paychecks coming in this month. Aside from groceries/living expenses, those can go straight to savings.

* There is going to be wonderful food this weekend. I swear, having the spousebeast around is like having my own personal chef.

* And did I mention I'm going to have a visitor?

Thankfully, NC weather cooperated. Not that we saw much of it from inside the house. :-) :-)

He IS a personal Chef.

What the heck is a G Hook?

Visitor, you say? I've never seen anyone so happy to get their "visitor".......

Dragon*Con you say?

There's a yarn craft called crochet which uses one hook, instead of two needles the way knitting does. The hooks are generally sized by letter--B hooks (I've never seen/heard of an A hook) are the smallest (except for thread crochet), and Q hooks are the largest.

D'oh.
I've never heard them referred to in that format (a G hook), so I thought she meant something different. We're all knitters here, crochet hooks are repair tools, and are all "small".

A reason for all of us to go to D*C again, ne? Maybe without the working part, this time.

Ooooh....maybe I can haul y'all over to dinner at The Patriarch's house.

Okay, maybe I'm still partly evil.

A few years ago when I had a Joann gift certificate, I bought myself a set of the lovely Clover Soft-Touch crochet hooks, which came in a tapestry carrying case. I love them! They're so easy to hold on to, and the case keeps them organized. Having said that, somewhere in this house are errant G and J hooks. I know they're here, I just can't find them. I recently made an afghan for a friend, and I needed another J hook. I went back to Joann.com and they were having a sale, so I picked up the soft-touch G and J hooks, plus some other stuff, and even got free shipping! Yay me!

Good luck to your SIL on the interview!

It's amazing how those hooks disappear. Of course mine always show up the day after I've bought a new one. lol

Yay for good food!

Wait, did I see you're having a visitor? :-) Have a great weekend!

Dragon-Con, awesome! I really wanted to go last year but I didn't, and now I regret it because it turns out that they're ditching the Weyrfest track from here on out. :( But I'd still like to go at some point, I've heard great things about it.
