It's beginning to look a lot like....

...Studio 54?

I've given up on putting up a tree this year.  Just the thought makes me almost catatonic with sadness.  Not good.

I had to go to Walgreens today to get cards for Kent's folks and a birthday card for his half brother (what is it with that family?  Kent's birthday is Thanksgiving; Robin's is January 2nd; Todd's is December 24th.  Suzie is the only one with a non-holiday related birthday).  While I was walking up and down the aisles, I saw a little, tiny disco ball for $5.  It's sparkly.  It's fun.  And it has colored lights.  And while it doesn't replace out late, lamented lava lamp, it will be a nifty addition to late nights hanging out with Santa Pete, listening to music and just being silly.

Speaking of Pete, remember those gigs I had to cancel elf duty because I was sick?  Guess who got the Christmas Crud while having kids crawl all over him?  :(    Poor Santa Pete.  No good deed, etc, etc, etc.

Everyone's on quarantine this week, which is a little weird.  I'm so used to my Jeopardy weeknights, but I also don't want to spend the entire winter passing around the same germs.  My immune system has been crap lately (gee, could it be...stress?).  Hell, all I want to do lately is sleep.  Bleh.

I want a big one eventually. First, I need ceilings that are a little taller.

I understand the timing thing.
my goungest brother's birthday is the beginning of November, then there's Thanksgiving, the other brother's wife's birthday at the end of November, her daughter's birthday on December 1, my husband's birthday on December7, the youngest's broother's first child was born December 8 this year, then Christmas, then the youngest brother's wife's birthday, then New Year's, then my birthday, then my mother's birthday at the end of January, then my grandmother's birthday on February 1, and then I get a month and a half off before my stepdad's birthday.

And people look at me funny when I start Christmas shopping in July.

We have two family birthdays this month, and I feel sorry for them. I hope you feel better soon.

Thanks.

And I feel for people who have birthdays this month. The one thing I always made sure to do for the ex (his birthday is on the 20th) was NOT wrap his presents in Christmas paper.

Congratulations on winning the Hogswatch "Pretty Little Dead Girl" by Seanan McGuire. I bought it a few years ago and enjoyed it. I hope it cheers you up.

Today has felt like a turnaround. A couple of friends have gotten some surprises/windfalls, so maybe this is a trend?

I have wanted that cd for so long. :)
