Stuff! And things! And events!

The spousebeast is working today.  He's basically covering everyone from now until NYE, bless him.

I woke up at stupid-thirty due to a nightmare of epic proportions (thank you, Brain.  Can we knock this shit off now?), so at least he woke up to apple crumble and bacon before he had to go ass-kiss the muckety mucks for the Board of Somethings' Holiday Party (he loves working for catering when it involves cooking.  Serving?  Not so much).  I don't know why I have such a weird baking jones lately.

I suddenly feel the need to own a loaf pan.  Or three.  The internet keeps throwing quickbread recipes at me.

I almost bought one yesterday, slapped a bow on it, and called it Kent's Solstice gift.  (Hey, he wants to learn to bake bread!  That counts, right?)  Unfortunately, he made a very specific request.  I could pretend to forget (hey!  Traumatic Head Injury Girl here!  I can't remember for shit most of the time), so instead....

...I bought him the new Marilyn Manson cd.  That's love right there, people.  I even had a way to bow out.  The kid at CD Alley said it wasn't in stock, and I was about to skip merrily off and buy Ozzy's 'Undercover'  (which he has also wanted) and....

"Well, I can get it here by Tuesday."

Damn you, kid.

He even gave me a break because I was also purchasing tickets to see Abbey Road Live! in January.  That's the household gift for the spousebeast, Santa Pete, and yours truly.  We're doing the matinee show.

Is it a sign of age when you're excited for the all ages show at 4:30?  We can do brunch, drink a little, and come home to leftovers, the Rock N Roll Dice, and talking about which songs they left out, how cute the kids are, and how people with wonky hips/ankles shouldn't try to dance the Twist.

I just hope we can stay awake tonight.  Pete and I are going to pick Kent up after work and try to get tickets to Star Wars.  We'll see.  I'm patient, but I think it is amazing that two people who aren't so crazy are willing to put up with it for me.  Kent is actually worried that I'll get spoilered (pro tip:  I'm not That Geek.  No one can say anything that is going to "ruin" this for me).

If the show is sold out, we'll just come back to the house and I'll make them watch 'The Wizard of Oz' on I forget which channel.  Kent has NEVER seen it, and the best way is to watch it on TV, IMNSHO.

It occurs to me that I have married two men who never saw that film until they met me.  I'm not entirely sure what that means.

The other event news is that a regular of Kent's gave him tickets to the UNC basketball game next week.  I'm going to go see my first UNC game!

If you'd told me I'd be excited by that idea 8 years ago, I'd've kicked you ass (okay, I would have just rolled my eyes.  But the intent would be the same).  Now I'm just happy to torture my college dorm mate (she was a hard core Duke fan.  None of us really cared, but she pretty much assured that Duke= annoying Lori in our heads).

Also...Go Heels!

This town warps a person, I swear.

We did! And Bonus! Going with two old farts meant the tickets were cheap ($5.99 a piece. Seriously. We spent more on popcorn).

I loved it. The guys looked at it as just another movie, but whatever.

The Manson record is pretty good. And so is bacon and apple crumble. :)

I don't dislike Manson, but he's not my favorite. To each their own.

At least *I* don't have the violent hatred for him that Kent does for Blackmore's Night.

TWOO is the Maternal Unit's favorite movie, so I've probably seen it fifty gazillion times in the last almost-44 yrs. I'm dumbfounded when I run across ppl who've never seen it. OTOH, another one of her favorites is Gone With the Wind, which I've tried to watch, and I just can't do it. Ppl give *me* funny looks for not liking it. Oh well.

I can't stand Gone With the Wind (which was one of Granma's favorites).

Every year, our cheap movie place does a Valentine's Day package that includes tickets to the movie, an "appetizer buffet," champagne, and a rose "for your lady." Do I have to tell you how much that makes my skin crawl?

Ugh.

For our second or third (I forget) anniversary, the hotel we like to stay in offered a "romance package." The *price* was really good, but I didn't care about the candy and I can't drink booze, so when I called to make the reservation I told the guy we didn't want the champagne or the chocolate. He was rather surprised. He told us the hotel wasn't actually offering that specific package anymore, but he offered to give us the discounted room rate anyway, which I thought was very nice of him.

I worked for a Marylyn Manson concert once ! Well - I didn't work with the band but the crew, I remember one of the guys was super nice, and another super stressed. And then at a moment, there was the battery player I guess, who was asking us about the sunrise direction (It was a festival on a beach, by the BlackSea coast).. Overall, even though I don't usually listen to his music, I think he's an interesting guy, through what I've read.

And... got the tickets to Star Wars ? Or was it the Wizard who won ?

I'm really regretting that I didn't grab some of Granma's when I was in Bristol.

Apparently, I marry weirdos who didn't have childhoods.

Actually, I meant that to be flippant, but it's kinda true. :(
