Hey, that went really well!

So I took a baggie of my  bug infested semolina up to the market, wandered around while the other shoppers cleared out, then quietly took Cute Stoner Boy Clerk (oh, he's adorable.  And young enough to be my kid.  Gods, am I becoming one of THOSE 40something women?) aside and showed him.  I explained that I'd checked all of my other dry goods, and the only one with bugs was the semolina.  I expressed concern about the storage of the bulk items, especially so near a door that opens a million times a day (and which, come to think of it, was frequently kept propped open in the summer).

He tripped over himself to refund my money, AND gave me two 2 lb bags of Ziyad brand semolina, which should hold up better (and both went straight in the freezer when I got home)..  On my way out, I noticed there was a sign looking for cashiers, so I asked for an application.  He said I was welcome to grab a seat and a drink in the deli while I filled it out, so I did.  When I handed it over to him, he gave me a small bag with the mixed dried fruit I love some much, thanked me for being "so chill about the gnarly flour," and asked if I'd mind if he gave the bag o' bugginess to his boss along with my application and tell him how I'd handled the situation.

This could be a good thing.

Of course, when I win the $500 million Powerball tonight, the whole job search thing will be pretty much moot.  ;)  Yes, I'm one of those people who only plays the lottery when the payout is stupidly large.  I played the numbers my granma always played.  Who knows?  Maybe some of her luck will rub off on me.

And my waffle iron arrived today!  *bounce*  That was fast,  Oh, I have such brunch plans for the weekend....

The next time I go in, I plan on finding the manager and telling him what a great employee he has.

Best of luck with the job app. Glad that returning the product was less of a hassle than you'd thought it might be.

Thank you!

I feel a bit silly now that I got so wound up over it. But I hate anything that even remotely feels like confrontation, even when I'm in the right.
