Ever walk into one of those work situations and all of your alarm bells start clanging?

Yeah.  Yesterday was one of those.

I was told by the kitchen manager to come in at 2:30; the FOH manager was expecting me at 2, so I was 15 minutes LATE instead of EARLY.  Then I noticed she had my application right in front of her...with "Mon. 2:30" written clearly at the top.  Communicate much?

And I had been more or less promised kitchen prep...and I'm running register.  Again.  *sigh*  Which wouldn't be bad in and of itself, but that position also is a combo cashier/server/bus person, which is NOT what I signed up for.

Add into that the fact that I was supposed to do online training and the manager took a good half hour to figure out how to get me on the module.  Then the WiFi went down.  Again.  And again.  And again.  In between her having to run to the counter a billion times, because the staff was just FOH manager, BOH manager, and one other person in the kitchen.

Which means the rest of the staff had been cut before 2:30.  Not good.

So I was told I could access the system from home and just keep track of my hours.  And I wasn't in the system.  I called, and we get to try it again today at the store.

Now, I realize that's no one's fault.  However, the training is supposed to take four hours and then you go out on the floor.  As it stands, I have to try it again TODAY.  I work a six hour shift, then go to my second interview at B-ski's.

Y'all keep your fingers crossed for me, please.  At least I know I can trust B-ski's.

Yes, I definitely know what you mean about the alarm bells going off. Trust your gut, hon. It's your best defense against the insanity.

Good luck this afternoon!! I'll be thinking of you and sending good juju.

When the bells are ringing like that -- run, do not walk, to the nearest exit

Wow, it sounds like you work in the restaurant version of my massage office, lol. Is that your only option, because if not...

Um, yeah. One of these things is not like the other. Again, I can totally relate. Do you feel like society is slowly crumbling all around you when seeing how shoddily businesses are "run" behind the scenes? What if everything is secretly like that?

Good luck! I hope today went better.

I went on a second interview for another job this afternoon, which promises more hours AND a job in the kitchen.

*crosses fingers*
