*bouncebouncebounce*

After work today, I am going to buy myself some most excellent chicken nachos at Cosmic Cantina, walk out to Carrboro, and enjoy them on Weaver Street Commons (don't worry.  I'll be purchasing a beer at Weaver Street, so I won't be abusing their hospitality) while waiting to help unload the We Aren't Dead Yet tour.

I have to change at work.  Can't wait to see/hear the reactions when I stroll out of there in jeans, Docs, and my "Tomboy Girl" tank top.

Hey, when you roadie for feminist lesbian music wonders, ya gotta look good, right?

It still breaks my brain.  These are women who were in pretty heavy rotation on my "Women on Air" show in college.  I never thought I'd meet them, much less meet them and go out for drinks with them and help them set up for a show.

I am amazed how much my life has changed since I ended up here.

I've been thinking a lot lately, probably in part because I spend a lot of time sitting at bus stops and writing in my paper journal (I've almost finished this one and I've got another copy of the SARK journal when I finish! I'm so excited!).  Yesterday was a complete cluster at work (new catering driver switched orders, so we had to refund almost $400 in catering.  Someone decided to bypass catering entirely and use the web ordering app for NINETEEN MEALS, all of which had to have names on them.  And we had the G-D Chancellor's office, and don't even get me started on that.  Let's just say the interaction involved me strolling calmly to the walkin and unleashing the full power of my military brat vocabulary in all its glory) and Kent went in extra early to unload the truck.  So we were up at 4:30, and I can never go back to sleep when that happens.

By the time he got home, I was staring at the yarn for Auntie Shelia's afghan and not doing much.  He had to deal with the IRS because the man apparently has NO CLUE how to file deductions when you're a) married and b)make more than 50 cents a year (good news.  At $25/mo. he should have it paid off in 6 years).  When he got off the phone, he asked about supper and I pointed to the fridge:  "D's still learning club sandwiches.  Be careful. I think there might be one with cranberry relish AND guac.  Oh, and I brought you some not quite out of date potato salad."

He settled in with food and his book (he's determined to finish his re-read of 'Another Roadside Attraction,' even though it seems to just be making him want to go back in time and whack his 15 year old self upside the head for thinking it was the best book ever written).  I ditched the afghan and started on what I hope is Steph's birthday present (I can do in arigurimi Linda Blair in less than a month, right?).  We were sore and tired

And it occurred to me.  There's some stressful shit going on, but I really like my life.  I like coming home and knowing I've WORKED (and frequently harder than co-workers half my age) and being able to be content in that, and not being continually pushed about wanting more, needing more.  I'm happy with our simple little life.

Just babbling.  I should really get ready for work.  I hope it goes fast.

Happy Saturday, y'all!

I feel similarly about Another Roadside Attraction, although Amanda's little speech about Marriage is still one of the defining quotes of my life -- enough so that I'm associated with it all over the interwebz, because I quote it all the time. *sigh* Everyone can stick a paragraph or so of greatness into something that's otherwise abstract-random swill, can't they?

It is very cool that it worked out that way!
