Weekends off.  That's a morale booster.  Free food.  Ditto.  Health care...okay, now that's just crazy talk, but it would be one hell of a morale booster.

We have "theme Fridays" now at work.  Last week, we could wear jeans.  Because denim in June in North Carolina is so FREEING!  (Well, it does absorb butt sweat better than khakis, so we have that going for us).  This week was "stars and stripes."

Yeah.  On Canada Day.  Go, us.

I have a  red work shirt and a blue bracelet I always wear.  I'm covered, right?

Not when You have a boss who lives a block from Dollar Tree.

At least she brought donuts and I got to have a pink frosted with sprinkles before she brought out the big bag o' flair.

The things I do for a barely above minimum wage job....

Next week?  Hawaiian shirt day.  Oy....

Well, as a Scottish Canadian I have no objection to the colours of the Union Jack. ;-)

The spousebeast tried to find his Union Jack pin for me, but it seems his Dresser Drawer O' Doom ate it. :(

"...his Dresser Drawer O' Doom ate it. "

I love this!

It's scary, I'm telling you. One drawer has socks and underwear, and the other three? He could have the mummified remains of Jimmy Hoffa. It wouldn't surprise me.

Funny how those morale things always wind up doing the complete opposite.

I never got those.

But they do seem to work well in that the people forced to do it end up universally hating the people who came up with the idea.

Although is that morale boosting or encouraging a mutiny? Not sure. I know how it looks from THIS end.

Yeah, I was berated for no Hawaiian shirt today. Sorry you have to experience that.

Surplus Sid's (one of my favorite places EVER) has three racks of them. Kent has to have one for some weird event in July, too. I am going to find the tackiest ones EVER.

Keep your fingers crossed that I can find one with pink flamingos for me.

Good point.I should have grabbed the one in the fridge, but I tend not to think too far forward at 4:30 in the morning.

LOL so Carlos' workplace has a legit "fun committee". They are the WORST. Nothing they do is fun. Like at all. HAHAHAHAHAHA

At least I got donuts.

Which may be the only reason I didn't kill anyone. But that is a whole other entry.

I am giving serious thought to blogging about this place.

My current goal is to find the loudest, tackiest Hawaiian shirt within company decency standards for next Friday. I'm contemplating wearing a coconut bra over it.

Hawaiian shirts is an awesome idea. I wonder if I can convince my [court transcribers/fairly conventional workplace] to dress up? We do have casual Fridays. Used to be once a month but people couldn't keep track, so they said okay, do it every Friday. I save that day for my 'message' t-shirts. Used to wear button up shirts the rest of the time until I decided to see if I could get away with plain t shirts the rest of the time too. Yes! [I guess you can tell I don't get out much?]

Hehe!

We just got a McCallister's in Niagara Falls, NY. Friends I've had that have lived in the south rave about it. I can't wait to try it!

Normally not a fan of theme days at work. But I do appreciate being able to wear costumes on Halloween.

We had to wear red, white, and blue for work too... and work a 14 hour day. But I had to do it in heels, outside, and get bit by ants and my shoes ruined because they painted the lawn green and the paint didn't dry. *sigh*

You have weekends off? Lucky. That is rare in the biz.... Even though I work for a patriotic organization, I really don't get into the red, white, ans blue leis like some do...

I had for two whole schedules. Yippee! Now I'm working The Pointless Shift (11-3) on Saturdays. But at least I have Sunday off.

I also have next Wednesday off, so I get a day all to myself. That doesn't exactly suck.

Dear managers everywhere,

"Theme days" that involve spending our low wages on being a team player are not enjoyed by staff.

Love,

Retail and food service staff everywhere.
