I haven't had a migraine in....jeez, I can't remember how long (I'm thinking somewhere between 5-10 years).  Fucker snuck up on me out of the blue at work this morning.  Pain was so bad I ended up throwing up (thank the gods I went in early and was in the kitchen.  No customers and lots of trash cans).

I really appreciate my coworkers.  I was told I was NOT working today.  When I got my stuff with the intent to grab the bus, I was told NO.  No bus.  NO, no cab either.  Charlie drove me home and made sure I got in okay;  Cindy loaded me up with soup and crackers for when/if I felt like eating.    They even called Kent to let him no, and checked up on me this afternoon.

You know, I joke about the corporate culture a lot, but these are really good people.

Thankfully, I still had some of the "big guns" from my abscessed tooth, so I was able to knock my ass out and sleep on the sofa for a few hours.  (THIS is why I never take pain killers if I can avoid them.  When I need them, I REALLLLLLY need them)  Woke up feeling almost human, but have spent most of the day dozing on the sofa.  The television gods smiled on me, so I could snooze through Trisha's Southern Kitchen and Little House on the Prairie.

Yeah, I have very definite mental comfort food choices.  Throw in some reruns of The Waltons and Pioneer Woman and that is just as good as a comfy blankie.

I'm feeling much better now.  The headache is gone and the pleasant side effect of the painkillers is that all of the constant low-to-mid level body aches that I always have are also gone.  It's nice.

I'm off tomorrow, so I took it extra easy.  I need to head out to Carrboro to buy Hawaiian shirts for Kent and me for our "mandatory fun" days at work.  I'm mentally kicking myself for turning down Jim (my former youth group leader) when he offered me a bunch of his gloriously garish shirts when I visited last October.  It never occured to me that I'd need one.  And, of course, now I'm thinking how cool they would be tied over a tank top to keep the (blazingly hot) sunshine off my shoulders.  And what if I have a Jimmy Buffet concert emergency?   What was I thinking?

I got part of my amazon.com order today!  Unfortunately, it was my swear words themed coloring book, and my head/brain is NOT in the mood for coloring.  But I have it!  Yay!  I think I'm going to color "Fuck this shit" and put it on the wall next to the front door that also has signs reading "Live with intention/Be bold in the face of adversity/Live the life you were destined for" and "Do I look like a freakin' people person?"  It will be like the Food Service Workers Creed.  ;)  Pick your mantra for the day.

There's also a "What the fuck did I just read?"  that I think needs to go over the computer.

I wish I'd gotten one of my cds first, though.  *pout*  I ordered More of the Monkees and The Best of Bobbie Gentry.

My sister commented "Bobbie Gentry means you've got some badass taste in music.  The Monkees means...we were raised by mom.  And your crush on Davy explains your current husband."

THIS is the kind of shit I've had to deal with since the little interloper showed up, folks.  *rolls eyes*

I didn't want to post this over on FB, but something like - a sudden severe headache, especially with vomiting - can be signs of something very dangerous, like an aneurysm. Please keep that in mind.

I appreciate the concern. I called my neuro doc when I got home and we both agreed it was most likely a combination of my current stress levels and the fact that we're using a new cleaner at work.

I'm so glad your co-workers took care of you to the extent of actually making sure you got home safely and had comfort food when you felt like eating. Still, I want to echo the last commenter: it could always be something more than a migraine--though migraines are bad enough--so maybe think about a check-up just to be safe.

I appreciate the concern. I have a pretty intense mind/body connection, and it is likely the stress (long story I don't feel much like going into), poor sleep, AND we've starting using a new cleaner for the restrooms at work from the Febreze family that caused the wallop.

I've had 2 migraines my entire life & it was 2 too many. My daughter started getting them when she went on birth control. She had one so bad she was puking. I took her to the doc for that one. They did an MRI to be sure it wasn't more serious. A shot & half an hr later & we were back home. She hasn't had one in quite a while.

Speaking of badass music, I don't know if you saw my post from the other day, but I suddenly found myself in possession of your namesake Jimmy Webb single.

If it would be of any sentimental value to you, and/or if you guys have an actual turntable? It's yours:)

I hope you feel better soon!

(I get severe headaches a lot, maybe from the steroids I need for my asthma as... well, needed, but the caveat with me is that I have to limit NSAID use as it impacts my lung function. Some asthmatics are sensitive to NSAIDs like that.)

Your workmates sounds like they are good people, yes. :) I have a migraine attack about once a year and it really knoks me out for at least two days. And my migraines are rather mild...

Monkees! Have you heard any of the new album? There's at least one keeper song on there and the rest are turning up not so dusty
