Jan. 15th, 2017

After a severely understaffed weekend, I was informed "You really don't think this working only weekends thing is going to last, do you?"

Why, no.  No, I don't.  But it's gonna give me hella leverage to get every other weekend off like every other employee who works 3-5 days a week.  I'm just looking at this as a bit of a vacation.  A chance to look for a second job if need be, one that might be emotionally less stressful (why am I missing barista-ing again?  Go figure).  I'm still not entirely sure that the place can survive one good, thorough visit from DHS, but I have also been informed that we're not the worst of the worst.  *boggle*

Later this week, I'll be doing a walkabout with resumes.  I was planning on doing it Tuesday but--and this is priceless--we get paid TOMORROW., and I kind of like having a few bucks in my wallet when I am walking a few miles to pass out resumes and fill out applications. We get paid the 15th and the 30th, but instead of giving us our checks on Friday the 13th...they chose a FUCKING BANK HOLIDAY!  Needless to say, there are a lot of unhappy people right now (especially those of us who rely on the bus to get there in the first place).

So, Tuesday, I'll have to take the bus up after 2 pm, pick up Kent's and my checks, run to the bank...and I think I'll do the happy dance to the grocery store, and do the first run at Job 2.0 on Wednesday.

I don't know if it's been the weather or how closely we're guarding our hours together at home, but the spousebeast and I have been cooking up a storm.  Or maybe because we've been eating so many meals at work, which is (mostly) dictated by the menus from corporate.

[Okay, he's been eating a lot of corporate menu meals.  I've been eating a lot of cold cereal, yogurt, and granola bars from the snack cart.]

I came home tonight to "Soup of 1000 Treasures," which is the best spin on "Honey, I cleaned out the freezer and fridge and made soup!" that I've ever heard. It's quite tasty, and he's VERY proud of himself (soup is usually my thing to make). I'm not even sure what all is in it, but I almost fell over when I discovered that Kent actually, voluntarily used kale and baby bok choy.

Who says an old carnivore can't learn new tricks?  ;)

Currently flipping between 'The Wiz,' 'Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown,' and the Steelers game.  I'm not sure what this says about me.  Other than I clearly shouldn't have had coffee at work today, and Kent is working off his food coma, but I turn on the game every time he sorta wakes up to change position on the sofa so he hears the soothing sounds of the NFL and doesn't wake up to demand "Hey, where's the game?"

The things we do for love.  Including getting a potential ulcer watching football.  One of the few positive things I can say about my ex-husband is that he didn't watch sports.

Then again, I'm not getting dragged to gun shows and watching 3/4s of a paycheck go to something that could potentially be used to kill me.  I think I'll take the Steelers.

Am I really dragging out this entry to see if the Steelers win?

Happy Sunday, y'all.  I think I'll post this before I further embarrass myself.

Soup is always better when you can't tell or can't remember what's in it.
