send veggies, STAT!

I have eaten nothing but turkey taquitos and cold cereal for the last three days.  I'm not sure if it is PMS, sheer laziness, or the fact that the taquito filling Kent made is so damn good.

I really need to get my butt to the grocery store.  I'd prefer the farmer's market, but I work weekends and am usually so knackered by the time I get off work on Wednesdays that it's just not an option to haul my ass out to Carrboro for the midweek afternoon market.  :(   Although, given my weirdo schedule, it probably won't be long before I was a random Wednesday off.  Hopefully when the ramps are in.  One of the few things I miss about Konnarock was being able to walk out my back door and pretty much trip over them growing wild.

There was even a Ramp Festival every year.  It was stinky and glorious.

Yeah, spring is definitely here.  I have a visceral desire to go wildcrafting, make tonics, and EAT ALL THE GREEN THINGS (not that you could tell with what I've been eating the past few days.  But salsa verde counts as a green thing, right?  Okay, the shamrock shaped marshmelloes in off brand Lucky Charms probably not so much...but it's all about balance).

Kent had his first day of training today.  Ya know, every time he starts a new employment adventure, I feel like a mother sending her kid off on the first day of school:  "Do you have your lunch money?  Do you know which bus to take?  Don't worry; I'm sure you'll make friends."

Holy crap, y'all.  The job actually has *benefits.*  After his first 30 days, he can put me on his vision plan for $8/mo.

After 31 days, guess who is getting new glasses?  I'm only about two years overdue.  And my current frames are being held together with jewelers wire and inertia.

He's very excited.  I think he drooled a little when he talked about the saute station.  He's less than thrilled with the cutesy corporate speak ("noodle ambassador?"  *snerk*  Of course, I keep forgetting that he doesn't have the experience with corporate run fast casual restaurants that I do.  I suggested "noodle boy" as a substitue and...well, that just didn't go over well.  At least I find myself hilarious), but we all have that One Thing at work that makes us die a little inside.

In a moment of cosmically great timing, he even had a shiny waiting for him when he got home:  his Dr. Strange bathrobe. Just when I thought this household couldn't get any geekier...

Of course, now he's doing the poses at random, just walking through the living room.  i'm a touch disturbed that I find it kind of hot.

Okay, okay.  TMI.  Moving along...

I decided that the only thing that would make this day off better was a snooty, twee craft beer to go with my lunch taquitos (seriously, send arugula.  Send spinach.  Hell, send lawn clippings), so I hied up the hill to The Root Cellar.  Ended up being boring and going for a Sierra Nevada Torpedo Extra IPA, largely because I got tired of reading the effusive declarations of hand-craftiness and subtle notes of mango, pine tar, and unwashed hipster beard on each bottle and decided to go with what gets the job done.  Plus, let's face it:  I'm an IPA girl.  There's no shame in my game.

Since I was *right there* I perused the used books cart outside Flyleaf and...oh, dear.  Much badness ensued.  I found a Charlaine Harris book in one of the Little Free Libraries a couple of months back, and LOVED it Then I found the first two seasons of True Blood at PTA Thrift for cheap.

Clearly, the Universe thinks I need more vampires and werewolves in my life.

Sooo...I found SIX books in the series, rounded them up, and dumped them on the counter.  "So, Land, what kind of deal can you cut me if I buy all of these?  I know my membership discount doesn't apply..."

He found two more.  Eight books for $12.  And threw in an "Eat.  Read.  Shop.  Local"  sticker for my still as yet unnamed laptop.

Yes, I will flirt shamelessly for discounts on used books.

That place is dangerous, and I am lucky I just walked out with the books.  They've started carrying the Decomposition Book line of notebooks.  There was a Wonder Woman finger puppet/magnet who would be a perfect foil to our Edgar Alan Poe one.  And they had Jenny Lawson's coloring book!

And I was barely 1/10th of the way into the store.

GAAAAAAH!!!!!

*runs to freeze debit card in a 900lb block of ice*

So, since I just finished up my current read, I think I'll move on to 'Dead Until Dark.'

From Philippa Gregory to Charlaine Harris.  I don't know if that means I'm well rounded or just deeply disturbed.

Probably deeply disturbed, becuse I'm gonna be forcing Noodle Boy to watch the season premiere of Dancing With the Stars with me tonight.  I've never watched it before, but...Charo!  Mr. T!  Erika Jayne!  Set camp level to extra glitter!

And the new season of RuPaul's Drag Race starts Friday.  *happy sigh*  These are the things that make up for the long, dark months of sports and ESPN binges....

Eight books for $12 is an epic haul! Yassssssssss!

I'm with you with the fresh veggies thing. I've been upping my veggies and fruits, but in a rather unenthusiastic manner, because I prefer the farmers market offerings to the grocery store... and the local farmers market doesn't open usually until mid-April. I can't wait!

Hey, I'm reading a lot of Philippa Gregorys these days. I plan on spending the next four years in the Middle Ages.

I love her stuff. I just go on binges. I'll reread what I have if necessary, but she is so prolific, it seems like there is always something new.

Farmer's market opens ... I think at the beginning of April here. I'm thinking I'll come back from water aerobics and stop there and hope I haven't missed all the good stuff. ;)

I'm not a fan of Dancing with the Stars, but they moment they said "Mr. T", I was in there like a fool who is not to be pitied.

Also love your description of Hipster Beer. Cheeky hipsters. I'm more of a Stout guy than IPA, but there are times when IPAs hit the spot. Beer on, and cheers!

I've never watched the show before, but I couldn't resist with that lineup. I doubt I'll watch more than a few episodes...but, then again, I am a sucker for flashy costumes and moves that would land me in traction, so who knows?

Oh, I love a good stout now and then. We recently got Sweet Baby Jesus Chocolate Peanut Butter Stout at my favorite bar, and it is amazing. You can actually taste the chocolate and peanut butter, and it works so well together.

It is also a meal in a glass. But in a good way.

I have some Charlaine Harris books I'm looking at rehoming. If you're interested, let me know what titles you have and I'll see if I have any you don't. They're yours if you want them!

If it helps, when I read "Doctor Strange bathrobe" I immediately googled and bought one for my partner.

"Yes, I will flirt shamelessly for discounts on used books." Oh, yes - no problem doing that as well!

I have a number of Charlaine Harris books but haven't launched into them yet. :)
