not a resume item I'd ever planned on

"Geriatric Sex Police."

Spring has sprung at Happy Acres, and I am pining for the Wheelchair vs. Walker fights of...was it Monday?  *wistful sigh*  Please, for the love of all that is holy, beat me in the shins with your cane.  Just don't make me break up another handjob taking place between the wrought iron fence that separates the memory care patio from the main campus.  In broad daylight.

And that was only the *first* incident.  In what could best be described as a rich, full day.

(I was planning on coming home and pouncing on the spousebeast before the party at The Baxter tonight.  That pretty much killed THAT idea.)

(Which is hugely unfair, because Kent and I would BE that couple in that situation.  I have this nagging feeling I am wracking up some sort of future bad karma where our sex life in later years is concerned)

I just have to make it through the day tomorrow, then WEEKEND(ish)! I've decided to do the grocery run after work tomorrow--something I usually avoid--so that I can be a total sloth or wildly adventurous on Tuesday (depending on my mood) without having pesky errands to run.

Still have to figure out something food-wise for Wednesday.  Since it is our last day off together for the forseeable future, I want things to be nice.  I also don't want to spend all day in the kitchen.  ANd I don't want the food to be too heavy.

Don't mind me.  I'm just stream-of-consciousnessing here.

If you like shrimp scampi, I have an amazing recipe on hand that takes more time than typical scampi but certainly isn't 'all day in the kitchen.' And the extra effort is worth it.

If you're not that into shrimp then just ignore the link :)

I adore scampi! I'll definitely try that when shrimp isn't quite so dear as it is at the moment. Thank you!

My professor friend just told his class about how much sex older people have in nursing homes. They were horrified.

haha, oh man! I'm all for elders having sexscapades for as long as they can meaningfully consent, but al fresco hand jobs are probably not ideal XD

I wish we could just give those two their own room and have them come up for air for meals and Bingo. They both have the cognitive ability to consent (and consent...and consent...). It would be easier on EVERYONE to just give them privacy.

Is there no way for two people in a relationship to cohabit? :( I do think this is a big problem with a lot of elder residential care homes. All the evidence suggests that giving people the freedom to have meaningful relationships has a huge impact on their quality of life! But people can be so squeamish about sex and love in old age. :(

Not in our facility. We have one married couple who are paying HUGE bucks to live together, but there are no other coed rooms.

Were it not for Fran's family ("mom is having sex! Ewww!" That's why she's in the memory care unit. She's "incompetent." Actually, she's just diabetic, horny, and annoying as fuck), I think EVERYONE would vote to give them a room and only bring them out for meals and Bingo.

Proof that we keep on going ... and going ... and going ... ;)

But yeah, I can imagine the issues of consent and the like are a headache to manage.

Those issues keep me up at night. Seriously.

At least with Fran and Dan the Man, I know the issue of consent isn't a problem. HER FAMILY is an issue. She got moved back to memory care after they got caught having sex, so she's basically been declared mentally unfit/unstable/whatever because her daughter was grossed out.

Fran's mental illness is that she will do it anywhere, any time....and forgets to shut the door. Or, in this case, remember that other people use the patio. Last time I checked, "horny with slight exhibishonistic tendencies" wasn't in the DSM-IV.
