Apr. 14th, 2017

Emailed the landlord, and he's sending someone over to see if there is, indeed, a bedbug problem, and to take measures to rectify it ASAP if there is.

Yay!  He also asked if there was anything else that needs doing.  There was a voice off to the side, and then "Ramon wants to know if you need any lightbulbs replaced."

Our maintenance dude is a closet lightbulb fetishist, I swear.  However, our lights are a pain in the ass, and between my lack of balance and Kent's vertical challenges, standing on a chair to fiddle with light fixtures is dicey at best for both of us. So, yes.  Yes, there are some bulbs that need replaced.

Bonus!

Today's payday, and Kent offered to go pick up my current and his last check.  "I know you probably don't want to go up there until this is fixed."

Huh?  He almost made it sound like I have something to be embarrassed about.  I'm frustrated; I hate missing work...but it's not like this is my fault.  Hell, it's well known that we frequently get bed bugs at work when we get new residents, and we've had three new residents in my unit ALONE in the last week and a half.  And there's still no proof that I brought them to work instead of vice versa.

(Knowing it's not my fault has not prevented me from taking 3 Silkwood-level showers since yesterday)

But it occured to me that, due to the holiday, our bus schedule is borked.  Like, I'd be spending a couple of hours hanging around various bus stops borked.  In 80F sunshine.  In pollen at the "we're all fucked" level.

Suddenly, I feel an attack of delicate, wilting Southern flower coming on.  Oh, my nerves.  I don't think I can handle the shame; do, please, go get my check, sugar.  And just forge my name and deposit it for me; there's a dear.

I'm such a bitch.  :)

Of course, I also strongly suspect that there might be a teensey ulterior motive.  I got the latest list of shows coming to Cat's Cradle, and X is doing their 40th (*choke*) anniversary tour.  Tickets are $20.  Gee, I wonder if he will stumble into Schoolkids Records on the way home?  It's been known to happen.

Since I have an enforced "vacation" (honestly, there's no way this is getting sorted before at least Monday), I'm kind of at loose ends.  Again with the holiday, all of the stuff I've been missing out on on the weekends (my writers group, yoga at the Ackland, a semi-functional bus service) is a no-go.  Most of my favorite places are closed.  I'm trying to deep clean the kitchen, but that's turning into starting na project and watching television for three hours.

I suck at housework.

I think I have forgotten how to slack off.  That's not good.

I wish i had had a Ramon at my old place. My hallway light went out a couple weeks after i moved in and even though i'd bought a bulb there was no amount of furniture maneuvering and acrobatics i could do to reach up there to replace it.

Ramon is the BEST maintenance dude EVER. He actually gets a bit offended that I don't call him for minor shit like killing spiders.

He's The Maytag Repairman of Brookside Condos, poor guy. I think he gets bored.

Good god, X have been around for 40 years?! They still rock live, though, so definitely worth the $20 ticket.

That was my reaction. 40 YEARS!?!?!?

Oh, we're going. I am not a mega-fan, but their music was on so many of the mix trapes I traded back and forth in high school. Besides, I know an opportunity to be part of music history when I see it.

Wow are you a Type A, too? There are pluses, but not so much when it comes to slacking off. Hope everything works out!

I'm...twitchy. I've gotten used to working constantly and having precious little time to myself and now I am all "FUCK! WHAT DO I DO WITH THIS!?!?!?"

Be careful what you wish for...

Oh, God. It's not just like that here??? We are all fucked.
