*happy dance*

I'm going to see Dar Williams in December!!!!

AND, because I work my ass off and deserve it, I sprung for a VIP ticket.  It was $50 as opposed to $30, but it also includes special seating AND a signed copy of her new book.  Given the going price of hardcover books, I think it's a bit of a steal.  And we alI know the fetish I have for signed copies of books.  :)

It may seem weird, but I'm kinda proud of myself.  I knew Kent wouldn't want to go, so I just told him I was going.  Didn't ask, just asked if he wanted to come with.  And bought my ticket.  It is SO HARD for me to feel like I can spend money on myself.  I give myself $20 of "walking around money" (as Kent calls it)  on payday , but a splurge this big, all for me...I don't do that.   Go, me!  I don't even feel guilty or anything.  :)

It's not like Kent is an ogre about money or restricts my spending or anything like that.  It's just that damned, seemingly unbreakable tape loop in my brain, courtesy of my ex-husband, augmented by growing up poor.

So....yay, concert!  And book!  Two of my favorite things!  And I have two months to plan the perfect outfit.  :)

Today was actually pretty low key.  I was with my work wife A, which REALLY makes a difference.  We work together and the hours fly by.  Everything gets done, there is no drama,  and we try to make things fun.  For instance, after having to endure two hours of gospel music first thing (she, the med tech, and most of the residents like it, so I grit my teeth and smile.  But this new stuff works my last nerve), we switched over to 70s disco and had a dance party.

Screw the "Sit and Stretch" that Dipshit Activities Director does in AL (and never ventures back to MC to lead).  We're busting a move to "Superfreak" and "I Will Survive."  Which, frankly, is a lot more active (and slightly disturbing, but whatever).

She gave me a ride home, so I actually got home semi-on time, and was greeted by the spousebeast doing prep for supper.  Yay!  I froze a bunch of the tequila lime marinated chicken, so he was grilling some of those and making his signature spicy sauteed cabbage. I was told to just sit, have a beer, and listen to some music  (I chose Bob Dylan).  <3 <3 <3

The schedule STILL wasn't up when I left, so I'm just gonna assume I'm not working tomorrow (I usually don't when I work the weekend).  How do these people NOT make a schedule?  Jeez.

hooray! $20 extra for special seating AND a book - that's definitely worthwhile!

It's pretty amazing how much easier work is with the right coworkers - and DANCE PARTY!

oooh fun! I think the extra money was worth it!

If they can't make a schedule I don't see how they can expect ANYONE to show up.

You work your ass off. You work harder than anyone I know, and you deserve it.

After my spending thousands in a week in the 1990's because of my newfound freedom and credit cards, and paying them off for as long as I was old at the time, I am very hesitant to spend money and use the ones I do have now... And, I work my butt off to pay them off.

It is so hard to turn off that tape and I am trying so hard.

Hope your schedule is posted by now.

I hope the concert is super awesome for you! :D

I can't say anything bad about 70's music, not with my love of ABBA. :P Sounds like a good time to me.

And having dinner made for you - rock on.
