Helloooooo, 3 day weekend!

And, boy, did I ever earn every second of it yesterday.  Oy.  Impending full moon + dementia patients = utter chaos.

AND I got to train another newbie.  They're doing this weird thing where they are bringing second shift new hires to train midway through first shift.  I'm not sure if this is a "scared straight' program or what.  "Hi, welcome to Happy Acres.  Help us clean up after lunch, then we'll show you how to put residents down for a nap, change diapers after a lunch of barbecue and collard greens, and deal with the early stages of sundowning."

Again, I say oy.

I don't have as high hopes as I did with Other Purple Haired Girl (tm), but she might survive.  Maybe.

In other news, the spousebeast is up in DE with his sister to bring the MiL down here...for two months.  Two.  Fucking.  Months.  Thankfully, she'll be staying with Robin.  But she'll still be here.  She's invasive enought long distance....and now she'll be right across town?!?!?!?  All the way through NYE.  Possibly longer.

Anyone want to adopt/shelter/foster me through January?  I make great holiday meals.  I can crochet things.  And I lose spectacularly at Monopoly.  Also, I'm very quiet.

My Work Wife suggested I just start showing up for shifts at random when I want to hide, because someone almost always calls out and "ya might as well make some money in the process."

That place is so weird, I swear.  I went to pick up my check on Halloween (in costume as an urban witch, natch) and somehow got roped into the "fall festival" for the residents (and I got to clock in!  I got paid to pass out cupcakes!).  Other Purple Haired Girl (tm) and I tied for second in the employee costume contest.  And might I add that the residents voted?

So, apparently, urban witch and scary PCA clown (yeah, she's been watching AHS: Cult, too) are popular with the older set.  And she and I maintain that the 50s sock hop girl only won because she's a med tech and they're angling for extra meds.  ;)

Long story short, I got paid for 3 hours and am getting a $10 gift card.  Woo-hoo!

Wow - MIL visiting or two months? That's a long time! Thankfully not living with you - but still - like you said - she'll be *close*!

I think your Work Wife's suggestion has a lot of merit :) And - hooray for work letting you clock in - if they're going to rope you into working, they should at least acknowledge and pay you for it!

Enjoy your long weekend!

I'd shelter you... probably the longest distance you can get away from MiL without leaving the continent/time zone (Ontario, Canada).

Eek.

If you need a place to run away, remember, I'm only a couple of counties over.

Apparently this day is a three-day weekend for us (well, in general), Veteran's Day is being celebrated on Friday of this week. :P

Get on a bus and come up here to NY. You can stay in our guest room, pet the kitties, and watch my son cook. You're welcome anytime!

There is definitely something to the full moon thing. People tend to get a little stupid with their alarm systems too (where I work).
