Oh, Le Pen! I have missed you so!

I stopped by Flyleaf day before yesterday and found a copy of Westmark by Lloyd Alexander on the used book cart.  I fell in love with that series in middle school and decided it MUST BE MINE.

I can get very passionate about a seventy five cent used book.  Downright obscene sometimes.

As I was checking out, I noticed a display stand next to the counter.

Le Pen.  Fine tipped, writes smoothly, comes in every color you would ever want.  That was  what I used in my journal, if I had enough allowance and babysitting money.

Fabric covered  notebooks from Pic N Save.  The black and white composition books (always college ruled) that were brought as offerings when mom's college friends came to visit.  Lisa Frank notebooks when Grandpa would take me into Woolworths after we'd delivered a car to Mexico.  And Le Pen, which seems to make your scribblings so much more...elegant.

IT IS THE BEST PEN EVER.

I bought three.  I am planning to buy one of every color they have.  I am trying to remember what they cost back in the day, but under 2 bucks seems reasonable.

In other news, I survived the "visit" ffom corporate.  And getting the shit knocked out of me by a resident (I didn't know that seeing stars was actually a thing).  Frankly, picking myself up off the ground was better than dealing with residents' families.  If you've done a dump and run and show up 3+ months later, you don't get to be pissed off that we don't serve milk at lunch.  If your "beloved granny" can't have toast because she is on a mechanical soft, you should have been here to speak the fuck up.

I'm tired of all this, y'all.  I want to be the saint I aspired to when I was six, but...no.  I don't have it in me.  Would someone PLEASE send me back the bagel flinging barista mines, please?

In better news, while I was doing the grocery run, I availed myself of the "Teeter Tastings."  (How unfortunate is that for a name?)  It's become my own private version of Cheers.  He knows i am going to buy the $2.99 chardonnay, but I get samples and crackers and cheese!  (I am finding out that I do like cheeses other than brie)

And Kent started his new job.  Yeah....he's  abandoned me at Happy Acres yet again

Is it good for the household?

Yes.  Salary, 401(k), benefits.  ANNND a 20% discount. at Fresh Market..

But do I sorta hate him right now because he can float from job to job while I am waking up at 5am to wipe asses.  And he wakes up all happy and I wake up, make his coffee, and dread going in?

Something needs to change in my life.

At this juncture though, I am just going to take my weekend off and enjoy it.  I have the second season of Glee, 4 dvds of Julia Child, and a HUGE  fucking bottle of vodka.  What could possiby go wrong?

Pens are essential to good paper journal writing, and I have discovered that this year.

Fresh Market. I have to get there, but I hate that section of town.

I remember the pens, notebooks, and composition books--are you bringing back memories.

I am so sorry about your job--it is grueling trying to help people. Not such a rosy profession as we thought as kids. I hope you find something else in time.

Enjoy your time off and relax!

Man, I have been there and ,yes, I think it's time for a change. When the job sucks that much, it's time to cut your losses and head for another opportunity. Good luck.

Start the changes with making him make his own coffee. It's as simple as pushing a button.
